Public Protection Classification Rating Improves
Springfield Township among top 1% of all communities evaluated
Friday, May 14, 2010The Insurance Services Office (ISO) recently upgraded the Public Protection Classification rating for Springfield Township to a "3". The Township previously enjoyed a rating of "4".
The ISO Public Protection Classification survey evaluates fire station locations, protection-area boundaries, emergency dispatch centers, fire department resources, and water supply capabilities on a scale of 1 to 10, with a rating of 1 being the highest and 10 the lowest. A rating of 3 places Springfield Township among the top 1% of all communities rated in Pennsylvania.
The Public Protection Classification rating has a direct effect on homeowners and business property insurance rates. New insurance policies will reflect the new rate classification. However, residents and business owners are encouraged to check with their existing insurance carrier to ensure that their current policy reflects the new classification upon renewal.
The Board of Commissioners acknowledges the contributions of the three Springfield Township volunteer fire companies, Montgomery County, and Aqua Pennsylvania for their efforts to improve and maintain fire protection services in Springfield Township.
