Library Events for the Week of December 4 - 10

Monday, December 4, 2017

MONDAY, DECEMBER 4th

10:00 AM – Storytime Terrific 2’s & 3’s – Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun! For ages 18 to 36 months with a caregiver. No registration required. Supports PA Forward's Basic Literacy.

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg! Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Knitters’ Group – We now have two options for knit and crochet enthusiasts! Join the group at the library for knitting, crocheting, and conversation. Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM – Hour of Code – Celebrate Computer Science Education Week with three Hour of Code sessions. Learn the basics of coding with fun robots designed for young learners! Play with Cubetto and the Code and Go Robot Mouse and see if you can direct them through the mazes. Cubelets will also be available for you to build and program with, as well as some non-robotic activities to help you learn more about the coding process. Suggested for ages 4 and up. No registration required. Drop in to any session you are able. Supports PA Forward's Information Literacy.

7:00 PM– Socrates’ Café – Join in the conversation, be it political, religious or whatever comes to mind. Share your thoughts, experiences and viewpoints while meeting new people. Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th

10:00 AM – Storytime Playful Preschool (3+) – Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun! For ages 3 years and up with a caregiver. No registration required. Supports PA Forward's Basic Literacy.

3:30 PM – 5:30 PM – Teen Time – Teens entering grades 6 to 12 are welcome to come to the library for Teen Time every Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Play trivia, eat snacks, hang out, and play games! We're always open to teen suggestions for activities! Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM – Hour of Code – Celebrate Computer Science Education Week with three Hour of Code sessions. Learn the basics of coding with fun robots designed for young learners! WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6th

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Pinochle Group – Whether you’re a beginner or experienced but a bit out of practice, join in the fun! Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg! Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

3:30 PM – 5:00 PM – Lego Club – Children ages 4 and up are invited to spark their imagination and build to their heart’s content with our vast collection of Legos. Drop in anytime during the 90-minute period. Lego creations will be saved from week to week and displayed on the library shelves!

6:30 PM – Knit Night – Join the knitting group at the library for knitting, crocheting, and conversation. Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7th

10:00 AM – Storytime Wonderful Ones – Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun! For ages birth to 24 months with a caregiver. No registration required.

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg! Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

4:00 PM – Yo-Yo Club – Do you play yo-yo or want to learn how? Come hang out with other yo-yo players, learn tips and tricks, and discover how to get started. The library has yo-yos you can use if you don't have your own. No registration required. Suggested for ages 8 and up.

7:00 PM – World War II: Untold Anecdotes – Learn some interesting anecdotes about this time period and see a collection of original World War II newspapers, courtesy of Roddy Davis, local amateur historian. Supports PA Forward's Civic and Social Literacy.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8th

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Duplo Play Day – Drop in to build with our collection of Duplos! Recommended for ages 2 and up.

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM – Bridge – Play the challenging card game of bridge at the library. Newcomers with previous knowledge of the game are welcome. Supports PA Forward's Civic & Social Literacy.

2:00 PM – Movie Matinee – TABLE 19 – Ex-maid of honor Eloise, having been relieved of her duties, decides to attend her oldest friend's wedding anyway. As Eloise bonds with her tablemates, secrets are revealed, and she discovers that friendships and even romance can develop in the most unlikely circumstances. Starring Anna Kendrick. Rated PG-13.
