Library Events for the week of July 17 - 23

Monday, July 17, 2017

MONDAY, JULY 17th

10:00 AM – Storytime – Terrific 2’s and 3’s – For children from 18 to 36 months, with a caregiver. Come in and hear a story, sing a song and have some fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg!

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Knitters’ Group – We now have two options for knit and crochet enthusiasts! Join the group at the library for knitting, crocheting, and conversation.

3:30 PM – 5:00 PM – Teen Robotics Lab – Explore and experiment with building and programming robots. Drop in to any session. No registration required. This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor. Supports PA Forward's Information Literacy.

7:00 PM– Socrates’ Café – Join in the conversation, be it political, religious or whatever comes to mind. Share your thoughts, experiences and viewpoints while meeting new people.

7:00 PM – Eureka! The Inventor’s Lab – Explore the world of inventing! Hear stories about famous breakthroughs, get inspired, and express your creativity by making your own inventions. All supplies provided. Suggested for ages 7 to 11. No registration required. Each session will focus on different topics, but no previous attendance is required. Come to any session you are able! Supports PA Forward's Civic and Social Literacy.

TUESDAY, JULY 18th

10:00 AM – Storytime – Playful Pre-School – For children ages 3 and up with a caregiver. Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun!

2:30 PM – 5:30 PM – Teen Time – Wet 'N Wild Outdoor Activities (weather permitting) – Teens entering grades 6 to 12 are welcome to come to the library for Teen Time every Tuesday afternoon from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. Play trivia, eat snacks, hang out, and play games! Other summer activities include: Sleight of Hand Workshop with magician Mike Rose, Construction Wars, Science with Professor Al, Graphic Design with the Antonelli Institute. We're always open to teen suggestions for activities! Com join the fun!

7:00 PM – The Renaissance Man – Join us for a fun and interactive performance of Romeo and Juliet from The Renaissance Man! For children of all ages. No registration required.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 19th

10:00 AM – Building Storytime – Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun with a special building and engineering theme for each session. Stay for a craft or building activity immediately following storytime. For ages 3 to 6 with a caregiver. No registration required. Supports PA Forward's Basic Literacy.

11:00 AM – Pinochle Group – A new card group is forming at the library. Drop in to play!

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg!

3:30 PM – 5:00 PM – Lego Club – For children ages 4 and up, caregiver must be present. Come in and build your creation from our collection of Legos! We will display it on our shelves!

6:30 PM – Knit Night – Join the knitting group at the library for knitting, crocheting, and conversation.

THURSDAY, JULY 20th

10:00 AM – Storytime – Wonderful 1’s – For children from birth to 24 months and caregiver. Stories, music and fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Join in on the challenging game of Mah Jongg!

6:30 PM – 8:00 PM – Teen Robotics Lab – Explore and experiment with building and programming robots. Drop in to any session. No registration required. FRIDAY, JULY 21st

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Duplo Play Day – Drop in to build with our collection of Duplos! Recommended for ages 2 and up.

10:00 AM – Pre-School Yoga – Explore yoga with your little one in classes taught by a certified instructor from Water and Rock Studio. Drop in to whatever class or classes you are able. No registration required. For ages 2 to 5 with a caregiver. Supports PA Forward's Health Literacy.

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM – Bridge – Play the challenging card game of bridge at the library. Newcomers with previous knowledge of the game are welcome.

2:00 PM – Movie Matinee – CHRISTMAS EVE – When a power outage traps New Yorkers inside elevators on Christmas Eve, they find that laughter, romance, and a little holiday magic will get them change their lives in unexpected ways. Patrick Stewart and Cheryl Hines star in this PG “Christmas in July” movie.

WEEKEND SUMMER HOURS

SATURDAY, JULY 22nd – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

10:30 AM – Summer STEM – We’ll make thunderstorms in a cup, make ice cream in a bag, and experiment with quicksand. No registration required. Suggested for ages 5 to 9.

SUNDAY, JULY 23rd – CLOSED
